The Thermopro Lightning Instant-Read Thermometer is the best thermometer I’ve used yet, even down to its packaging. It came neatly packed in a bright orange box. It already included a screwdriver and battery, so I didn’t need to go out and buy anything for it. I love that it’s more lightweight (weighing a mere 3.53 ounces) than previous models I’ve owned and has rubber all around the sides, making it easy to grip even when I’m using it in tight spaces, like in my oven. Unlike the stationary probe thermometer that I’ve been using, this thermometer has a fold-out probe that stores neatly in its designated place in the back. 

It also has a large display with red colored numbers that I can read easily, even at night. It was fun testing out the 180-degree auto-rotating display that lets you use it right- or left-handed. This feature is also great as it doesn’t matter which way you hold it, as the number flips automatically, so you’ll always be able to get a read. But what really impressed me most is that it lives up to its name. It reads the temperature in less than a second — easily four times faster than my old thermometer.

Besides how rapidly it reads the temperature, this thermometer has some nifty features that set it apart from others. I was curious and wanted to see how off my old thermometer was, and in checking both, the ThermoPro offered a faster and more accurate reading. It was pretty obvious because everything I made came out even more tender and moist than before. And, I appreciate the handy internal temperature reading chart on the back of the thermometer for beef, pork, ham, and poultry that I can reference when needed.

While it is already calibrated, it has a custom recalibration feature, to ensure it is always reading perfectly and accurately. This also has automatic sleep and wake mode so it knows when I want to use it, and automatically shuts off after 90 seconds when I no longer need it.

Cleanup is easy since it's waterproof so you don't have to worry about it getting wet if caught out in the rain or when washing it — you can submerge the entire thermometer under water. And while you can store it in a drawer, I took advantage of the magnet on the back and mine is hanging prominently on my fridge within easy reach.
