BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) — North Dakota Parks & Rec is moving forward with developing the state’s 14th state park at the Pembina Gorge State Recreation Area.
They are currently accepting construction bids for the project.
Located near Walhalla, Pembina Gorge State Park will feature approximately six cabins and over 50 RV sites.
Plans include family-friendly restroom and shower facilities.
A groundbreaking is scheduled for mid-May.
It will be North Dakota’s first state park since 1989.
The 2023 legislative session approved $6 million in funding with another $2 million coming from a matching federal Land and Water Conservation Fund grant.
