GLEN JEAN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – New River Gorge National Park & Preserve saw an increase in overall visitation during the month of March compared to March of 2022.
According to data from the National Park Service, the park saw a 7.3% increase in March visitation as compared to March 2022. The park recorded a total of 74,879 visitors last month and 69,767 during March of last year.
Both the Canyon Rim & Sandstone visitor centers saw an increase in visitation.
During the month of March, Canyon Rim Visitor Center in Lansing recorded 29,553 visitors compared to 25,935 during March 2022 which makes for a 13.9% increase. The Sandstone Visitor Center recorded a total of 4,710 visitors as compared to 3,175 visitors during March 2022, a 48.3% total increase.
The New River Gorge National Park & Preserve has recorded 155,238 visitors for this fiscal year-to-date compared to 140,641 visitors last year at this time, a 10.4% increase.
