New Mexico State Police are looking for 20-year-old Juan Munoz of Ranchos de Taos after his car and belongings were found parked by the Río Grande Gorge Bridge Sunday (Feb. 21). Around 3 p.m. officers were made aware that Munoz had not shown up to his job with the National Guard. Relatives of Munoz said they had not seen him since Saturday night (Feb. 22).
According to a statement from the New Mexico State Police, search dogs were brought in and “confirmed that Munoz’s scent was on the bridge.” State police used drones to search for Munoz below the bridge and several miles downstream. The NMSP dive team was also brought in, but “they were unable to get any of their equipment into the water,” due to low water levels, said the statement. The case is still under investigation.
