Golden Retriever Obsessed With Watching Cooking Shows Delights Internet - Newsweek

For many people, Sundays are the perfect opportunity for a lazy day spent in front of the TV. As it turns out, the same applies to dogs as well, because one golden retriever loves nothing more than watching his favorite shows from the comfort of the sofa.

Pet owner Kyla Satterfield has delighted the internet after sharing a video of her dog, Kenna, spending her Sunday afternoon in the best possible way; watching cooking shows. The pup was trying so hard to focus on the screen, but when her owner interrupted her concentration, she slowly turned her gaze away from the television and stared at Satterfield.

Since the clip was shared on May 5, it has amused many TikTok users, with over 2.2 million views and more than 285,000 likes already, much to Satterfield's astonishment. Sometimes, all you need is a sofa day, and Kenna certainly requires that after a busy week of napping and playing.

Satterfield told Newsweek: "The reaction from the video has been exciting and full of hilarious comments. I'm so glad the video of our precious Kenna has put a smile on so many faces already."

There is no doubt that the golden retriever has got her Sunday afternoon routine down to perfection, but it may not specifically be the cooking techniques and advice that catches her eye. Experts at PetMD say dogs can be captivated by the motion, visuals, or the sounds coming from the television screen.

The way that dogs see things is very different to humans; their vision isn't as sharp, and they only have two color-processing cells in their retinas, compared to the three that we have. They can see blues, greens, and yellows, but any other colors will seem very dull to them.

Most dogs probably aren't watching cooking shows, however. PetMD says that they will typically be interested in things that attract them in real life, too. If your pet loves chasing squirrels outside, they might want to watch a nature show all about those pesky creatures.

However, each to their own, and let's just hope that Kenna realizes that the food being prepared on screen won't magically appear in front of her, too.

The video of Kenna relaxing after a tough week has delighted many people online who could relate to her desire to put her paws up and just unwind in front of the TV. The caption alongside the clip reads: "On Sundays we watch cooking shows!"

Kenna has certainly earned praise online, and since going viral, the post has received more than 2,100 comments. One comment reads: "In her previous life her name was Barb and she loved all the cooking shows."

Another TikTok user wrote: "Shhhh. She's planning out her meals for the week."

A third person commented: "She's trying to help you with dinner ideas."
