A driver struck and killed a pedestrian Friday evening near a fast-food restaurant in Grantville, police said.
The deadly crash occurred about 7:50 p.m. on Mission Gorge Road just north of Twain Avenue, in the roadway between a bank and an El Pollo Loco chain location, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.
The pedestrian died at the scene, Heims said. Few other details were immediately available.
Footage from OnScene TV showed a yellow tarp covering the victim’s body in the roadway. A vehicle was stopped nearby with a shattered windshield.
