Actor-turned-author Twinkle Khanna has often spoken about her lack of cooking skills. She recently recalled how tricky things got during the lockdown, because she was forced to feed her daughter Nitara peanut butter sandwiches everyday. She said that she doesn’t know how to cook, and her husband, actor Akshay Kumar, refused to whip up meals for them. Akshay famously worked as a chef in Thailand before making it as an actor.
Twinkle, who has two children with Akshay, said that their 10-year-old daughter might go into therapy when she grows up, because she was fed the same thing every single day. Twinkle was in conversation with chef Sanjeev Kapoor, on her chat show The Icons.
Sanjeev claimed that any kind of food can be turned into a delicacy. Reacting to this, Twinkle said, “During the pandemic, I was giving her peanut butter sandwiches everyday because we couldn’t cook. I can’t cook. Husband said that he is not going to cook. Now, I feel that she will grow up and go into therapy and say that others’ parents were making pasta and banana bread and everything, but my mother was giving me only peanut butter toast.”
Twinkle often discusses the challenges of parenting. In a recent Instagram post, she had written, “Our job is not to give our children perfect childhoods. It is to fill their heads with ideas, to honour their strengths and make them aware, but never underline their weaknesses..”
