The Easy Way To Reduce Cooking Time For Fish - Tasting Table

As adults working full-time jobs and having other things like hobbies, kids, long commute times, and hundreds of other responsibilities, the thought of coming home at the end of a long day only to have to prepare your fish and then considering the 30-45 minutes to cook before you can eat, usually kills any urge you may have to pull out that filet you've been saving. Luckily, there is a way to cook up some flavor-packed fish in 10 to 15 minutes.

Writer Laurent Gras at Fine Cooking has developed a quick cook method for fish you just have to try. The method is reminiscent of a sous-vide, except you don't need a vacuum sealer or an immersion circulator. Instead, Gras places her fish into thick Ziploc storage bags along with her preferred ingredients. She then slips the sealed bag into a pot of water at 140°F (60°C). The hot water will cook the fish without drying it out, and in half the time it usually takes!

Foodal recommends that if you use this method, you choose fresh fish with no aggressive "fishy" smell and no scales. The site also states that salmon works best on the boiling method. Fish are brilliant and diverse meals that we all need to indulge in more often, so instead of picking up some fast food on the way home, remember that you can have it ready in less than 15 minutes at home!
