Royal Gorge Association of Realtors announces Landscape of the Week winner - Canon City Daily Record

susahmadang.blogspot.com

The Royal Gorge Association of Realtors has chosen a Landscape of the Week.

Congratulations to John and Terry Evergreen of 806 S. Fourth St. They have created a colorful outdoor space in front of their house, with all kinds of flowering plants in containers, garden beds and hanging baskets. If you walk or drive by, you’ll see lots of marigolds, in honor of Terry’s Mom; marigolds were her favorite.  There are also morning glories, dianthus, daylilies, yarrow, petunias and so much more.

The Evergreens have been married for 36 years. Terry was born in Cripple Creek, went to school in Cañon City, moved away, and now calls Cañon City home again with her husband, John, who discovered and fell in love with Cañon City decades ago while driving semis through town for a living.

John is of Pueblo Indian descent and is fluent in the native Pueblo tongue, and honored us with the phrase, “The flowers are beautiful” in his native Tiaa dialect.  John and Terry work so hard on their landscape so that others may enjoy it.

Terry said, “Everyone who walks by says something and it makes them smile and that is what we need these days,” Terry said.

To make a nomination for the landscape contest, email royalgorgerealtors@gmail.com or call 719-275-6560.
